NBA Star Iverson Scores 60 to Lead 76ers

update

Philadelphia's Allen Iverson showed why he is the National Basketball Association's leading scorer, scoring 60 points Saturday to lead the 76ers to a 112-99 win over the Orlando Magic.

Philly head coach Jim O'Brien says Iverson's career-best 60-point performance was the greatest he has ever seen.

It was the NBA's first 60-point game since Tracy McGrady netted 62 points for Orlando last March.

The defending NBA champion Detroit Pistons snapped Washington's four-game winning streak, thumping the visiting Wizards 107-86. Chauncy Billups led the Pistons with 21 points.

In the league's only other game Saturday, the host Milwaukee Bucks routed Atlanta 113-83, handing the Hawks their 14th straight road loss. The Bucks' victory stretches their winning streak to three games.

The Minnesota Timberwolves took action off the court Saturday, firing head coach Flip Saunders one day after the team lost its seventh in eight games, dropping to 25-26 on the season.
