Football: US Women's Team Wins Algarve Cup Match

The United States women's soccer team has won for the second time in two tries at the Algarve Cup in Portugal.

The Americans got two first-half goals from Christie Welsh en route to beating Finland 3-0. Welsh had scored the lone goal in the U.S. team's opening win over France on Wednesday. Her goals Friday came in the eighth and 40th minutes.

Abby Wambach scored the defending champion Americans' third goal in the Group-B match in the 52nd minute on a header off a free kick from Cat Reddick.

In a Group-A match, Germany overpowered Norway 4-0. The winner of Group B will face the winner of Group A in the final next Tuesday.
