Rumsfeld Praises Argentina's Contribution in Haiti

U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has praised Argentina for its contribution to peacekeeping efforts in Haiti.

Speaking in Buenos Aires Tuesday Mr. Rumsfeld said Argentina is playing a vital role in the multinational peacekeeping forces in Haiti. The defense secretary met today with his Argentine counterpart Jose Pampuro to discuss Haiti and other issues.

Local media report demonstrators, who oppose the war in Iraq, plan to block a key bridge in Buenos Aires to protest Mr. Rumsfeld's visit. There were also reports of other small protests just hours before Mr. Rumsfeld arrived in the country.

Earlier Tuesday, Mr. Rumsfeld urged Nicaragua to destroy its stockpile of anti-aircraft missiles. He said the missiles are a threat and are very attractive to terrorists.
