Malaysia has released a former university lecturer who allegedly helped fund terror attacks in Indonesia.
Officials said Wan Min Wan Mat was released Monday, along with five students accused of undergoing terrorism training in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Police said none is any longer considered a threat to national security.
Mr. Wan Min, who was detained in 2002, admitted sending $30,000 to senior members of the Islamic terror group Jemaah Islamiyah to help finance terror operations in Indonesia. His Jemaah Islamiyah contacts are suspected in the Bali nightclub bombings that killed 202 people on the Indonesian resort island.
None of the six suspects released Monday was ever tried. They were held under Indonesian laws that allow for indefinite detention without trial.
