An accused terrorist has told a Yemeni court he got orders and money from al-Qaida to plan an attack on the British Embassy in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.
Anwar Bayan Sadiq al-Gaylani Monday testified that he only planned the attack, which was to be carried out by al-Qaida members in Saudi Arabia.
The Iraqi man, along with five Yemenis and two Syrians, is charged with planning attacks on the British and Italian embassies, as well as the French cultural center.
The trial, which was adjourned until April 11, is the latest in a series of prosecutions of suspected members of al-Qaida operating in Yemen.
Meanwhile, officials say four policemen and eight followers of slain radical Shi'ite cleric Sheik Hussein al-Huthi were killed in clashes with Yemeni security forces in northwest Saada province.
