Tennis: Mauresmo Advances to Semifinals of Nasdaq-100

Top seed Amelie Mauresmo of France has advanced to the semifinal round of the Nasdaq-100 Open men's and women's tournament in Key Biscayne, Florida.

Mauresmo ousted Serbian teenager Ana Ivanovic, 6-1, 6-4, Wednesday. Mauresmo is ranked No. 2 in the world and is chasing American Lindsay Davenport for the top spot. Mauresmo is seeking her first title in Key Biscayne and will next face Kim Clijsters.

The former world No. 1 player from Belgium defeated Russian Elena Dementieva, 6-2, 6-1, to advance. Clijsters is unseeded after nearly a year off nursing a wrist injury. But she already has won a title at Indian Wells, California.

Among the men, Spaniard David Ferrer won a quarterfinal match against Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia, 6-2, 6-3.
