Chinese Man in Custody After US Capitol Bomb Scare

update

Captiol Police approach man who stood in front of US Capitol Monday with two suitcases
A 33-year-old Chinese man is in the custody of U.S. immigration officials after causing a bomb scare outside the U.S. Capitol building.

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer identified the man as Wen Hao during an interview with CNN television Tuesday.

The man stationed himself outside the Capitol building on Monday, standing between two suitcases. Police say he was mostly unresponsive when questioned, saying only that he wanted to speak with President Bush.

Police eventually surrounded and tackled the man, dragging him away from the luggage. The bags were found to contain no explosives.

The suspect, who Mr. Gainer said is also an Australian citizen, has been charged with disorderly conduct.
