O'Hair Leads Byron Nelson Golf Championship

American Sean O'Hair has carded a 3-under-par 67 to take a one stroke lead after the third round of the Byron Nelson Golf Championship in Irving, Texas.

O'Hair has a three-round total of 198, one better than countryman and British Open champion Todd Hamilton, who fired a 65 on Saturday. Three other Americans, Scott Verplank, Ted Purdy and Doug Barron are another shot back tied for third place. If O'Hair can hang on he will win the first PGA tournament of his career.

The names at the top of the leaderboard are not as well known as a number of favorites who are several shots off the pace. But even more surprising is world number-one Tiger Woods' failure to make the cut for the first time in 142 events.

Vijay Singh of Fiji shot a one-under 69 Saturday and is six shots back at six-under 204. South African Ernie Els carded a 69, and is another stroke back at 205 along with American Phil Mickelson. Mickelson birdied two of his last three holes to end the day with a 70.
