Pistons, Spurs Take Leads in NBA Playoffs

In National Basketball Association playoff action, the reigning champion Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs have taken 3-2 leads in their National Basketball Association playoff series.

In the Eastern Conference semifinals, Ben Wallace scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Pistons past the Pacers, 86-67, in Detroit. Tayshaun Prince added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Pistons.

The Pacers have the home court for Game 6 on Thursday. The winner of the best-of-seven series plays the Miami Heat for a berth in the NBA Finals.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Seattle Supersonics, 102-90, in San Antonio. The win gives the Spurs a 3-2 edge in the best-of-seven series.

The Spurs' Manu Ginobili led all scorers with a playoff career-high 39 points. Tim Duncan added 20 points and 14 rebounds. Ray Allen led Seattle with 19 points and six assists.

Game Six is Thursday in Seattle. A win would put San Antonio in the conference finals for first time since it won the NBA Championship in 2003.

The winner of this series faces the winner of the other Western Conference semifinal series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns. The two teams are tied 2-2 with game 5 Wednesday night in Phoenix.
