Spanish Court Frees 5 Terrorism Suspects on Bail

update

A Spanish court has released on bail five suspected members of an al-Qaida cell on trial for membership in a terrorist organization.

The five, Sid Ahmed Boudjella, Mohamed Khair Al Sagga, Bassam Dalati, Waheed Koshaji Kelani and Ahmad Koshaji Kelani, are among 24 suspects who went on trial in April on charges of membership in a terrorist organization.

Authorities have barred the five from leaving the country, ordering them to turn in their passports and report daily to a judge.

Three of their co-defendants are accused of using Spain as a staging ground for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.

Some information for this report provided by Reuters, AP and AFP.
