Palestinian Militants in Gaza Fire Rockets into Israel

Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip fired at least three rockets at an Israeli border town Tuesday, damaging one home but causing no casualties.

The Islamic militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in response to a visit by Jews to the al-Aqsa mosque compound in East Jerusalem on Monday. Jews visited the site they call Temple Mount during Israel's annual celebration of its capture of Arab East Jerusalem in the 1967 war.

Separately, two Palestinian militants, including one local leader, were killed during a gun battle with Israeli soldiers near the West Bank town of Jenin early today.

The Israeli military said one soldier was also wounded in the firefight that broke out when soldiers converged to arrest a wanted militant.
