Ethiopian Electoral Board Vets Complaints of Electoral Fraud

update

Some press reports say Ethiopia’s National Election Board has rejected nearly half of the 300 complaints of fraud from both the opposition and ruling party after last month’s regional and federal elections. The board says in many of the cases, there was insufficient documentation.

But the chairman of the opposition Coalition for Unity and Democracy --Hailu Shawel -- told English to Africa reporter William Eagle the news reports are over-simplified. Mr. Hailu says the initial rejection of complaints may not necessarily be final.
