Iraqi Insurgents Kill Kurdish Parliament Member

Iraqi insurgents have killed a Kurdish member of parliament and wounded a second lawmaker in an ambush north of Baghdad.

Officials say Faris Nasir Hasan Shabak was killed in the attack late Saturday near Dujail. His brother and a driver were also killed, and another lawmaker, Haidar Qasim Shasho Shingari, was wounded.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi parliament has signed off on revisions to the draft constitution, and forwarded the document to the United Nations. The U.N. is printing five million copies of the long-delayed charter for distribution ahead of an October 15 nationwide referendum.

The amended draft includes language defining Iraq as a founding member of the Arab League.

Iraq's Sunni minority had complained during weeks of marathon talks that the original draft favored the country's Shi'ites and Kurds, whose delegates dominated the drafting committee.
