Suicide Attack at Iraqi Shi'ite Mosque Kills 25

A suicide car bombing at a Shi'ite mosque in the Iraqi town of Hilla killed at least 25 people Wednesday, when Iraqis were observing the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Officials said nearly 90 others were wounded in the explosion that occurred as the faithful gathered at the mosque to pray before breaking fast.

In other developments, Iraq's parliament reversed its earlier decision to change voting rules for next week's constitutional referendum. The rules change had sparked international criticism and led Iraq's Sunni Arabs to threaten a boycott of the October 15 vote.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani is expected to discuss preparations for the referendum in a meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair in London Thursday.

The meeting comes a day after senior British officials accused Iran of supplying explosives technology to insurgents in Iraq who have killed eight British soldiers since May. Iran denied any involvement.
