A military hospital in New Delhi says former Indian President K. R. Narayanan is in critical condition after slipping into a coma.
Officials at the hospital say Mr. Narayanan was hospitalized on Saturday after complaining of shortness of breath.
They say the former president has acute artery blockages and that a medical evaluation showed evidence of pneumonia.
The 85-year-old Narayanan served as president from 1997 to 2002.
