Turkey's parliament has decided to open a debate into a bombing last week that triggered days of clashes between Kurdish protesters and police, as tensions rise in southeastern Turkey.
Turkey's Anatolia news agency reports Tuesday that next week parliament will discuss the bombing of a bookstore in the southeastern town of Semdinli. The attack, which killed one person, was allegedly carried out by Turkish security forces.
Meanwhile, at least three people were killed Tuesday when police clashed with pro-Kurdish demonstrators in the town of Yuksekova, near Semdinli.
In the eastern town of Van, security officials say three soldiers were killed when their vehicle drove over a landmine planted by Kurdish rebels.
Late Monday, in the same city, Anatolia reports police arrested two members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). Officials allege the suspects were planting a remote-controlled bomb in the parking lot of the local governor's office.
