NBA: Pistons Continue to Roll with Victory Over Magic


In National Basketball Association action, Chauncey Billups scored a career-high 37 points and Richard Hamilton added 25 as the Detroit Pistons beat the visiting Orlando Magic, 108-99.

Detroit overcame a 22-point deficit Tuesday to win in its first game since having a nine-game winning streak snapped Saturday by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In Washington, Tracy McGrady matched his season high with 38 points as the Houston Rockets broke a five-game losing streak. Houston routed the Wizards, 123-111. The Rockets, averaging a league-low 87.6 points entering the game, became the second team in as many games to set a new season high in points against the slumping Wizards.

In Dallas, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry each scored 22 points to lead the host Mavericks over the Portland Trailblazers. The Dallas win stretches its winning streak against the Trail Blazers to seven. Nowitzki set a Mavericks franchise record in the fourth quarter with his 50th consecutive free throw, breaking the mark of 49 set by Steve Nash in 2002.
