Iran to Resume Nuclear Research Monday

Iran says it will resume nuclear research Monday, despite European warnings the move could jeopardize efforts to end a long-running standoff over Tehran's nuclear program.

An Iranian government spokesman Gholamhossein Elham told reporters in Tehran Monday that work will resume, after international inspectors remove seals from some nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, an official Russian delegation held talks in Tehran about a proposal to allow Iran to carry out uranium enrichment on Russian territory, to allay Western fears that Iran might try to use the technology to make weapons. Iranian media reports say the two sides are to meet again in Moscow in about a month.

Iran denies U.S. and European accusations that Tehran is secretly trying to develop an atomic bomb.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP, and Reuters.
