Philippine Gunman Kills 10 in Apparent Family Feud

update

A gunman in the southern Philippines has opened fire on a crowded billiard hall, killing at least 10 people and wounding five others. Police believe the attack was part of a family feud.

The shooting took place Sunday in Balabagan town on the southern island of Mindanao, a largely Muslim-populated region. The island's police chief Akmad Mamalinta says the gunman apparently took revenge on a rival family he blamed for the killing of his son.

Police say witnesses have identified the gunman, and a search for him is under way.

Clashes between rival clans are common in parts of the southern Philippines, a volatile region with a large number of unlicensed guns. The feuds often last for several generations.
