U.S. television news anchor Bob Woodruff and his cameraman are back in the United States to receive further treatment for injuries they suffered from a bomb blast in Iraq.
A C-17 medical evacuation plane flew Woodruff and cameraman Doug Vogt from Germany to Washington Tuesday. After landing, they were transferred to the Bethesda Naval Medical Center.
Both men suffered head injuries from a roadside bomb explosion near Baghdad on Sunday. They underwent emergency surgery at a U.S. military hospital in Iraq before being evacuated to the Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany Sunday night.
Their employer, ABC News, says both men are responding well to treatment.
Woodruff and Elizabeth Vargas were recently named co-anchors of ABC's World News Tonight newscast following the death of longtime anchor Peter Jennings.
