Former Taiwan premier Sun Yun-suan has died at the age of 92.
Mr. Sun was credited with contributing to the island's economic expansion in the 1980's.
The Veterans General Hospital in Taipei says Mr. Sun died of heart failure Wednesday. He had been in the facility since last month with heart and lung complications.
Mr. Sun, a former engineer, served as premier from 1978 to 1984. He left office after suffering a stroke, but in recent years was serving as a senior advisor to President Chen Shui-bian.
