Pakistani officials say a roadside bomb killed five minibus passengers Monday in the tribal region of North Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan.
The blast occurred in a village, Tata Khel, near Miran Shah - the main town in the area. The attack also wounded at least three people.
In a separate incident today, Pakistani troops killed two suspected militants in the town of Mir Ali in North Waziristan.
Officials say the militants threw hand grenades at Pakistani troops patrolling a bazaar, wounding three soldiers. Pakistani forces then shot back, killing the two attackers.
A series of attacks in Pakistan's troubled Baluchistan province Sunday left 10 people dead.
Militants set off bombs at a dairy farm in the town of Kohlu and a gas exploration site southeast of Quetta on. The bombings killed nine people and wounded 20 others. A tractor driver was also killed when a landmine exploded in Jaffarabad.
Meanwhile, authorities in South Waziristan found the bullet-riddled body of Muslim cleric Zahir Shah, who was kidnapped last week. His killers left a note that said he was killed because of his links with Americans.
In the northwestern town of Tank, three members of a family were killed by an explosion at their home. The cause of that blast has not been determined.
