NBA: Mavericks' Guard Terry Suspended

The National Basketball Association's Dallas Mavericks will be without guard Jason Terry for Friday night's game six of their second round playoff series against the reigning champion San Antonio Spurs.

Terry was suspended by the league for one game without pay for punching San Antonio's Michael Finley. The incident came with only three seconds left in the Spurs' 98-97 victory over visiting Dallas in game five Wednesday night.

San Antonio's win trimmed the Mavericks' lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinal series to 3-2. Terry has been the second leading scorer for Dallas in the playoffs behind Dirk Nowitzki, averaging almost 18 points per game.

If Dallas is unable to close out the series on the road Friday, Jason Terry would be able to return for the deciding game seven in Dallas Monday. These two teams had the best regular-season records in the NBA's Western Conference.
