Syrian authorities say security forces have foiled a terrorist operation in Damascus, killing four attackers and capturing four others.
They say a security guard was also killed and two wounded in a firefight with the assailants, who tried to take over a deserted building near the state-run radio and television compound Friday morning.
Several other government offices are also located near by.
It was not clear who the attackers were.
In recent months, there have been several clashes between Syrian security and Islamic militants.
