At Least 9 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Attacks in Gaza, West Bank

Palestinian officials say Israeli troops have killed at least nine Palestinians during attacks on a Gaza refugee camp Wednesday.

They say at least six Palestinians, including four militants, were killed when Israeli tanks and armored vehicles entered the Maghazi Camp. Later in the day, an Israeli airstrike near the camp killed three more Palestinians and wounded at least 18 others.

At least 60 Palestinians, including several children, were wounded in Israeli attacks in Gaza today.

The Israeli army says five of its soldiers were injured. Israel has been searching for a soldier captured near Gaza by Palestinian militants in June.

In the West Bank today, Israeli troops raided a Palestinian security force compound in Nablus, killing three Palestinian gunmen.

The Arabic television network al-Jazeera says Israeli fire wounded at least one of its journalists during the fighting.

Militants captured the soldier and killed two others in a cross-border raid late last month.

Israel withdrew troops and Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip last year after 38 years of occupation.
