Olympians Nyariki, Culpepper Expected to Run New York City Marathon

update

Olympians Tom Nyariki of Kenya and Alan Culpepper of the United States expected to run in the New York City Marathon for the first time.

Nyariki and Culpepper will have some experience with the course when they wind through all five of the city's boroughs on November 5. Nyariki won the inaugural New York City Half-Marathon on Sunday. Culpepper placed eighth.

The prestigious 42.2- kilometer event will be Nyariki's first marathon. He joins a men's field that includes defending champion Paul Tergat of Kenya and U.S. Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein.

Olympic silver medalist Meb Keflezighi says he will decide in the next week or so whether to run in the New York City Marathon, or try the Chicago Marathon on October 22.
