MLB: Rain Forces Postponement of World Series Game 4

Rain has forced the fourth game of Major League Baseball's World Series to be postponed. The wet weather moved across St. Louis, Missouri late Wednesday when the game was to have been played.

Baseball officials are hoping the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers will play later Thursday. The Cardinals lead the Tigers in the best-of-seven Series, 2-1. Game Five has been pushed to Friday, which was to have been a travel day. If needed, games six and seven will be Saturday and Sunday respectively in Detroit.

But, the revised schedule could be fragile as weather forecasters say more rain is likely in the St. Louis area through Friday.

The rainout was the first for the World Series since the 1996 opener between the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees. Four playoff games were postponed because of rain this season.
