Suicide Bomber Kills 15 in Afghanistan


A suicide bomber attacked a restaurant in southeastern Afghanistan Sunday, killing 15 people and wounding 25 others.

The governor of Paktika province (Mohammad Akram Akhpelwak) said the attack took place in the town of Urgun, near Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.

The governor said some provincial and military officials in the restaurant were injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, NATO said in a statement Sunday that their forces killed an estimated 55 Taleban fighters in two separate battles in southern Afghanistan Saturday.

The statement said that one NATO soldier was also killed when a large number of insurgents attacked a NATO convoy in the province of Uruzgan.
