Woods Reaches 3rd Round of World Matchplay Golf Championships

World No. 1 golfer Tiger Woods has reached the third round of the World Matchplay Championship near Tucson, Arizona with a win over South African Tim Clark.

Woods cruised to an easy five-and-four victory Thursday as he tries to capture his eighth consecutive U.S. PGA Tour event.

Also winning in the single elimination tournament was Australian Aaron Baddeley, who defeated British golfer Luke Donald, one-up. Henrik Stenson of Sweden topped South Korean K.J. Choi, two-up.

Ian Poulter eliminated British compatriot Bradley Dredge, three-and-one while South African Trevor Immelman won by that same score over American Chris DiMarco. Charles Howell of the United States beat Spaniard Sergio Garcia, four-and-three.

Niclas Fasth of Sweden edged South African Retief Goosen, one-up. Australian Geoff Ogilvy ousted Joe Maria Olazabal of Spain, two-and-one.
