NHL: Dallas Shuts Out Columbus

In the National Hockey League Friday, the Dallas Stars shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 to snap a four-game losing streak.

Sergei Zubov, Niklas Hagman and Mike Ribeiro tallied for the visiting Stars, and goalie Marty Turco made 30 saves to post his 29th career shut out for the win. The shut out is the Blue Jackets' club-record 15th this season.

The defending champion Carolina Hurricanes beat up the struggling Washington Capitals 3-0. The loss is the sixth straight for the Capitals. Carolina's Cam Ward stopped 25 shots to lead the Hurricanes on the ice in Washington.

Detroit scored in overtime to edge the Los Angeles Kings 3-2. Mikael Samuelsson tipped in a pass for the winning tally with about 90 seconds to go in the five-minute extra session.

The Wild, Ducks and Canucks also won Friday.

The Minnesota Wild routed the Buffalo Sabres 5-1, the Anaheim Ducks won their fourth straight game after beating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1, and the Vancouver Canucks needed overtime to top the San Jose Sharks 2-1.
