AC Milan of Italy has won the European Cup title for the seventh time by scoring a 2-1 victory over Liverpool of England in the Champions League football final in Athens, Greece.
Filippo Inzaghi scored two goals Wednesday as Milan avenged a heartbreaking loss to Liverpool in the final two years ago. Andrea Pirlo sent a free kick through Liverpool's defensive wall in the 45th minute, hitting Inzaghi in the side before bouncing past Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Inzaghi then added the insurance goal in the 82nd minute, taking a pass from Kaka in the center and rolling the ball past the outstretched Reina.
Dirk Kuyt got one back for Liverpool, heading in the consolation goal in the 89th minute.
