Belgium is facing its biggest political crisis in years as the country remains without a government three months after elections.
Belgium's King Albert II has repeatedly appointed senior politicians to resolve the political crisis, but all have failed.
About 60 percent of the Belgian population speaks Dutch, while about 40 percent speaks French.
Coalition talks have been deadlocked because the Dutch speakers, known as Flemish, are demanding more self-rule for the northern area of Belgium, known as Flanders. The French speakers oppose that idea, as well as another Flemish proposal to create a bilingual voting district in the capital, Brussels.
Brussels is home to the the headquarters of the European Union and NATO.
