England Collapse to 81 All Out Against Sri Lanka

update

England's cricket team has collapsed to only 81 all out in its first innings on the third day of its third and final test against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Ian Bell was run out for one run, Kevin Pietersen and Michael Vaughan scored only one run each, and Alastair Cook's 13 runs was the visitors' top score. Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas took four wickets while allowing 28 runs and Chanaka Welegedara was 2-17.

The English score was in response to Sri Lanka's first innings score of 499-8. England was asked to follow on, reaching two without loss and ending the day 416 runs behind the hosts.

Sri Lanka leads the three-match series, 1-0, after winning the first test in Kandy by 88 runs. The second test in Colombo was a draw. England needs a win to avoid dropping from second to fifth in the International Cricket Council test rankings. This is the first test to be played in Galle since the 2004 tsunami devastated the area.
