Electricity consumption is on the rise across Europe, but high oil prices and a reluctance in some countries to 'go nuclear' is creating an energy gap. So some power companies are switching back to 'coal' - but this time, proponents say coal is cleaning up its act.

A new generation of 'clean coal' power stations is due to open across the continent during the next five years. But one of the first to come on line has been met with stiff opposition in the United Kingdom. Paul Burge reports for VOA from London.
