Rival sides in the Ivory Coast conflict are meeting to update a stalled peace deal aimed at reuniting the country and preparing for elections.
Ivorian rebels and a presidential delegation arrived in Burkina Faso Thursday in hopes of signing a fourth supplementary deal to an original pact signed in March 2007.
The latest update concerns reintegrating 5,000 rebels into the Ivorian army. There have been disputes in connection with the ranks rebels will be given when they rejoin the force.
Meanwhile, the main opposition newspaper in Ivory Coast, "Le Patriote," said opposition leaders are again demanding a date be set for long-delayed presidential and legislative elections.
The elections were due in 2005 but have been pushed back repeatedly because of delays in implementing the successive peace deals.
Rebels took up arms and seized more than half of Ivory Coast in late 2002, saying they were fighting to make sure millions of undocumented residents get the right to vote.
