French President Leaves Hospital

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has left a military hospital in Paris were he was taken Sunday after collapsing during a jog around Versailles Palace.

The presidential office says neurological tests came back normal and that Mr. Sarkozy was suffering from the heat and overwork.

Officials say Mr. Sarkozy had a minor problem with a nerve that helps control heartbeat. The statement also says he fell ill after 45 minutes of intense exercise.

Before Mr. Sarkozy left the hospital, a close friend said he was hungry and complaining, which means he is fine. The 54-year-old Sarkozy is an avid biker and jogger.

About three weeks ago, the French government released results of a health check for the president. It said his blood and heart tests were normal.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
