Two Injured in Suicide Bombing Near French Embassy in Mauritania

Police in Mauritania say two guards have been injured in a suicide bombing near the French embassy.

Investigators say a man blew himself up late Saturday outside of the building in the capital, Nouakchott.

There was no immediate word on who was behind the attack. Al-Qaida's North African branch claimed responsibility for the murder of an American aid worker in Mauritania in June.

The bombing occurred just days after former military ruler Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz was sworn in as Mauritania's new president.
