U.S. weather forecasters say Tropical Storm Henri is weakening over the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to dissipate within a day.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Wednesday that Henri is about 600 kilometers east of the northern Leeward Islands, which include the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Saba, St. Kitts and Nevis.

The center says the storm is moving west at about 24 kilometers per hour. Maximum sustained winds are near 75 kilometers per hour.

Henri is the eighth named tropical storm of this year's Atlantic hurricane season, which began June 1 and ends November 30.
