Raich Celebrates Second Strong Showing at World Cup Ski Event - 2001-12-22

Austrian skier Benjamin Raich celebrated his second day on the podium Friday when he posted two strong runs to win a World Cup slalom race in Slovenia.

Raich, who was second Thursday in another giant slalom, finished in a combined time of two minutes, 7.46 seconds to collect his first victory of the season. American Bode Miller put in the second fastest run overall while Switzerland's Didier Cuche finished third.

Raich, who has been recovering from back problems, won two giant slaloms in 2000. Norway's Lasse Kjus failed for the second straight day to finish the race. Kjus went out after the first gates.
