Rebecca Santana began reporting for VOA from the Moscow bureau in April 2001.
She came to VOA from NBC Television's Moscow bureau and before that the Baltic Times newspaper in Estonia.
While living in Estonia, Rebecca covered such stories as the parliamentary elections, tensions between ethnic Estonians and Russians and the ever-glamorous Miss Santa Barbara contest.
While living in Estonia, Rebecca also began to study Russian and is now fluent.
Rebecca also lived in the New York City area where she worked for NBC News and the NBC magazine program: Dateline.
Rebecca has a Masters degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
In her spare time in Moscow, Rebecca plays ultimate frisbee with a women's team.
