The First Year of the War on Terrorism - 2002-09-09

Possible military action against Iraq could be the next chapter in the war on terrorism, which began last year with the pursuit of al-Qaida and its leader Osama bin Laden.

In concert with allies, the U.S. government proceeded to freeze many of the assets of al-Qaida and the organizations which supported it. Terrorist suspects were rounded up by police organizations around the world.

But the most visible front in the war on terrorism took place in Afghanistan, which had provided a safe haven for bin Laden’s forces and the Taleban regime.

In this video report, VOA-TV takes a look back at “the military’s war”.
