NBA Finals: Spurs Cruise to Game 1 Victory - 2003-06-05

The San Antonio Spurs have taken a one-game-to-none lead in the National Basketball Association finals, beating the New Jersey Nets 101-89 Wednesday night.

Tim Duncan had 32 points, 20 rebounds, seven blocked shots and six assists for the Spurs, who took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Nets, 32-17.

France's Tony Parker had 16 points and David Robinson added 14 for San Antonio, which made 49 percent of its shots, compared to only 37 percent for New Jersey.

Kenyon Martin led New Jersey with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Star point guard Jason Kidd was held to only 10 points, missing 13 of 17 shots.

Game Two of the best-of-seven series is Friday in San Antonio.
