Football (soccer) star David Beckham and his wife Victoria have arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on the second leg of their promotional tour of Asia.
The celebrity couple's arrival Sunday began with a short vacation ahead of the official part of their visit, which begins Wednesday. Their arrival was kept a tight secret and only about 20 fans were on hand to welcome them at Bangkok's international airport. Unlike the hysteria they left behind in Japan, where they were mobbed by hundreds of fans, there were no screaming or tears from the well-behaved Thai crowd who stood by, politely holding posters and Manchester United T-shirts.
Beckham's Asia tour was thrown into the spotlight after the English national captain transfered last week from Manchester United to the Spanish club Real Madrid in a deal worth about $41 million.
