A Japanese patrol boat searching for six victims of a fishing boat accident collided with a South Korean freighter Sunday.
All 16 crewmen on the 500-ton patrol boat Karashima were rescued after it collided with the 4,000-ton Korex Kunsan off southern Japan, about 850 kilometers southwest of Tokyo.
The patrol boat was searching for six men missing since Wednesday, when a Japanese fishing boat sank after colliding with a Panama-registered freighter. At least one person died in that accident.
