Women's Tennis: Clijsters, Capriati Could Meet at Bank of The West Classic Finals

World-number-two women's tennis player Kim Clijsters of Belgium and number-seven Jennifer Capriati of the United States remain on course to meet in the finals of the Bank-of-the-West Classic in Stanford, California.

Second-seed Clijsters dropped her first set Friday against unseeded teenager Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian of Switzerland 4-6, before roaring back to drop only one game in the final two sets, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.

Third-seed Capriati had a tougher time in her three-set win over ninth-seeded fellow-American Lisa Raymond 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.

Clijsters, who won the event two years ago, will face unseeded Italian Francesa Schiavone in a semi-final match today, while Capriati meets unseeded Maria Vento-Kabchi of Venezuela.

Schiavone downed unseeded Amy Frazier of the United States 7-6, 6-3 on Friday, while Vento-Kabchi picked off number-five Jelena Dokic of Serbia and Montenegro 6-4, 6-3.
