Wizards Take Bucks in NBA Overtime Victory - 2003-12-07


Washington's Larry Hughes scored eight of his season-high 36 points in overtime to lead the Wizards to a 114-109 win over the Milwaukee Bucks in National Basketball Association action Saturday.

Kwame Brown scored 18 points for Washington, including the game-tying basket. The win snapped the Wizards' nine-game losing streak in Milwaukee dating back to 1998.

Dallas became the latest team to add to Orlando's pain, as the Mavericks won 110-97 handing the Magic their 19th straight loss. Antoine Walker led the host Mavericks with 24 points and Michael Finley added 22.

Meanwhile, Houston's Chinese sensation Yao Ming scored 22 points and a career-high 20 rebounds, as the Rockets beat the visiting Detroit Pistons 86-80. Yao has scored in double figures in all 19 of Houston's games this season.

In other NBA action Saturday, the New Orleans Hornets beat the Chicago Bulls 97-91, the Golden State Warriors rolled over the New York Knicks 104-92, and the San Antonio Spurs topped the Miami Heat 86-70. Also, the New Jersey Nets defeated the Phoenix Suns 99-88 and the Cleveland Cavaliers snapped an eight-game skid with a 95-85 win over the Atlanta Hawks.
