President Bush says former President Ronald Reagan's leadership transformed the United States and the world.

In his weekly radio address, Mr. Bush recalled the former president's optimism and his accomplishments as both an actor and an elected official.

Mr. Bush said Ronald Reagan showed Americans what a president should be and what a man should be.

Mr. Reagan was laid to rest Friday at his Presidential Library in southern California following a week of memorial events on both coasts of the United States.

In Washington, Mr. Reagan lay in state for two days in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol building, where tens of thousands of mourners and hundreds of dignitaries paid their respects.
