With time running out at the Athens Olympics, 33 gold medals will be won Saturday in the final push to complete scheduled events.
The gold rush will be in the main Olympic Stadium where women run in the 1500-meter race, four-by-400-meter relay and high jump. The men throw the javelin, run at the 800-meter and 5000 meter distances, and pass the baton in the four-by-100 and four-by-400 relay events.
Canoe and kayak finals account for another six gold medals. Finals include the women's K-1 and K-2 races along with the men's K-1, C-1, K-2 and C-2 events, all covering 500 meters.
Boxing crowns four Olympic champions in the 51, 57, 75 and 91-kilogram weight divisions. Olympic glory awaits athletes in men's freestyle wrestling in the 55, 66, 84, and 120-kilogram categories.
Several popular tournaments conclude, led by the men's final in football between Argentina and Paraguay. Basketball also ends for the men and women. Argentina plays Italy for the men's gold while the United States and Australia take to the court in the women's final. Women's volleyball sends either Russia or China to the top of the podium.
The men pedal to gold in cross-country mountain bike cycling. The overall finals of Rythmic Gymnastics will be in Galatsi Gymnasium.
The Olympic Aquatic Centre hosts its final event, the men's 10-meter platform. Taekwondo has finals in the women's 67 and men's 80-kilogram classes. Sailing pulls into port with golds with Tornado and Star races.
Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira of Brazil have already clinched the gold medal Thursday in the Star class with one race remaining. The silver and bronze medals are still up for grabs.
