World number one women's tennis player Amelie Mauresmo of France and number two Lindsay Davenport of the United States have advanced to the finals of the Porsche Grand Prix tournament in Filderstadt, Germany.
Mauresmo scored a straight-set win over U.S. Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia (7-5, 6-4). Davenport ousted French Open winner Anastasia Myskina of Russia in straight sets (6-2, 6-4).
By beating Kuznetsova, Mauresmo will retain the world number one ranking for at least another week, regardless of what happens in Sunday's final. Davenport would have taken the top spot had the French player lost in the semifinals.
Sunday's winner takes home $98,500 or a new Porsche automobile.
