The war crimes trial of former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has resumed after a month break to give defense lawyers more time to prepare their case.
A German journalist, Franz-Josef Hutsch, who worked as a war correspondent in Kosovo became the fourth witness for the defense Tuesday when he took the stand at the U.N. war crimes tribunal at The Hague.
Mr. Milosevic faces more than 60 counts of war crimes, including genocide, for his role in the Balkan conflicts of the 1990's. He has refused to cooperate with his court-appointed appointed lawyers, Steven Kay and Gillian Higgins, and demands to conduct his own defense.
The British lawyers were given the case early last month after a medical examination determined that Mr. Milosevic was not well enough to continue defending himself.
